About this project
Clinical spaces don't always feel like places people want to be, but SCRC is different. Tucked inside a historic building in Seattle's Japantown, sharing walls with the century-old Nippon Kan Theatre, the facility has a warmth and groundedness that's special in the world of clinical trials. I photographed their space from the inside out — waiting areas, patient check-in, the lab, conference rooms, and the building exterior — to help them show potential participants and partners what it actually feels like to walk through their doors. The goal was images that said this is a place that takes care of people.
